Known as a hotbed of creativity, London Fashion Week welcomes emerging talent with open arms. This September, the event will be embracing Christopher Ciccone, aka Madonna's little brother.

The 51-year-old, whose CV boasts the following job titles: author, interior and furniture designer, artist, photographer and dancer, is channelling his creative flair into a footwear line named The Ciccone Collection.

Rest assured, you're not dreaming - Ciccone's shoe styles are very much a reality and shrouded in secrecy at this stage, but are thought to combine leather, rubber and canvas making "fashionable yet functional footwear" for men, women and children.

Approached by Slovakian welly and sneaker brand Novesta a year ago, Ciccone has been overseeing samples in the town of Partizánske.

Images of old Hollywood and Italian movie stars and a careful analysis of likes and dislikes from his own personal shoe collection have led Christopher to consider a marriage of traditional looks with modern materials and style names such as "Sofia," "Eva" and "Brigitte".

The shoes are described by Ciccone's people as "groundbreaking" due to the scrollwork layering process used to make the boots, which gives a sharp 3-dimensional effect.

Ciccone, who served as creative director on several of Madonna's tours, says this new endeavour is "not so different from designing a home, a stage or a piece of furniture. People have to be able to live in them."

Stay tuned for more on these very enigmatic-sounding boots.

It seems Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani won't be the only world-famous designer getting in on the Olympic action; Karl Lagerfeld is preparing to take a slice too.

Items in the pop-up shop, which will be situated on the store's third floor, will include limited-edition T-shirts created in collaboration with London design agency I Love Dust - one of which will feature an image of a discus-flinging Lagerfeld, reports WWD .

Lagerfeld lovers can also look forward to Karl-themed window displays at the store's main Oxford Street entrance.

As yet there's no word on whether the designer will be sticking around to partake in some Olympic commentary following on from his extremely popular coverage of the Royal wedding and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations . We hope he does - it would certainly make the Olympics a whole lot more fun for us.
